Hattrick - IV.17 - Ersan 4 : 0 PatkovachaLand

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 01:23:10

39570 punters turned up at www.ersano.com, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Ersan started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Lineup: Lago - Gunchev, Dawkins, Darch - Quesada, Shepherd, Galaridis, Mekišius - Borgobello, Borrull, Doberstein. PatkovachaLand decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Viarengo - Serôdio, Rada, Wostijn - Kacher, Bastie, Pletea, Pellinen, Zaltzman - Koshaev, Gorigoytía.

In the 2:th minute, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant. Ben Dawkins easily put the 1 - 0 goal away to give the lead to Ersan. Cheers filled the stadium as Ramón Quesada broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 2 - 0 goal for Ersan. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased Ersan's lead to 3 - 0 as Javitas Mekišius finished it off competently, firing from an acute angle. After this, Ersan lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 28 minutes, Ersan did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender, Alfred Doberstein could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 4 - 0, and proof it can pay off to come prepared. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. Ersan claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.

Antoni Borrull of Ersan was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Against a lesser team, Ersan could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick combination after 49 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Ersan, with an impressive 61 percent possession of the ball.

Most important Ersan player was Antoni Borrull. However, Rui Manuel Lago made a disastrous appearance. Ronan Bastie performed admirably for PatkovachaLand. On the other hand, Stephan Kacher's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 0.
