Quickly we put on some clothes and left hotel room. In hotel's entrance hall we saw another couple who overslept group tour of Dubai as well. Since they were determined to participate in tour they called a cab to take them to Burj Al Arab hotel where group supposed to be stopping next. Elma and I, after quick consultation, decided to join them. Travel from hotel we stayed at, Grand Moov, to Burj Al Arab was not long and soon after we found ourselves admiring best hotel in the world.
Since group did not arrive yet we took time to check entrances of Wild Wadi water park and Burj Al Arab itself. When group arrived we joined them in sightseeing bus ride with few stops: Atlantis (palm resort that has two towers linked by a bridge), Gold Souk (traditional Dubai market), Museum and one more place (can not remember the name).
Upon return to the hotel I realized that my spirits were high and nightmare from last night will not affect honeymoon...I started to enjoy in Dubai. After sightseeing with group Elma and I decided to do some sightseeing on our own. We decide to check out hotel surroundings and try to find Dominos Pizza we saw from bus. We quickly found it and ordered to go which made very fast outing. We finished evening with Elma's admiration for American fast food: pizza was great just as KFC that we had for lunch.
Next day we overslept again...overslept not only breakfast but shuttle bus to the beach as well. That did not pose much of distraction to our plan involving beach, sunning and swimming. We quickly ate sandwich and took a cab to Jumeirah beach.
Information we have had that water was 'hot' proved to be not so truthful. In fact, temperature outside was some 23-24 Celsius (73-75 Fahrenheit) while temperature of water, in my opinion, was no more than 15 Celsius (around 60 Fahrenheit). Entering water and getting accustomed to water temperature were displeasures of high proportions. Coming out of water was not pleasure-full either because of wind, especially in the afternoon. However, one gets used to much worse things...next day was already better, almost normal.
After Jumeirah beach we visited pool in the hotel, or to be more precise pool on the hotel (it is placed on the roof of the hotel). Ew, I loved temperature, at least 20 Celsius (around 70 Fahrenheit), of water in the pool. Needless to say, after all water activities we have had we were hungry. Next representative of American fast food was healthiest as well. I am referring to Subway-u of course. We found Subway in Wafi mall that we visited through hotel's shuttle (hotel has shuttle to the beach in morning and shopping centers in afternoons/nights). Wafi, styled after ancient Egypt, is strangest shopping center I have ever seen.
There we met nice older married couple from Canada who played important role in our activities next day.
Next day we finally used all hotel's offerings: heavy breakfast and shuttle to the beach. The beach entrance is where Canadians from night before saved us. Elma and I did not worry about exchanging currency as dollars and euro were accepted everywhere. Well, everywhere except on the beach entrance!! Even though entrance fee is trivial, 5 dirham (1 USD is approximately 3.75 dirham), we did not have it in Emirate's currency. So, Canadian couple with 10 dirham saved us precious time and embarrassment to some degree.
We left beach earlier than yesterday as we used hotel's shuttle that was running on schedule (going to the beach at 9 a.m. returning at 1 p.m....going to the shopping mall at 5-6 p.m. with return between 8 to 9:30). Returning at 1 p.m. is perfect timing as winds intensify in making uncomfortable cold when getting out of water.
Even tough we planned to go to pool, then to have dinner at shopping mall, hunger won over pool and we decided to go to the Burger King. That day was fast food fiesta for Elma (this infatuation is due to the fact that no American fast food chain is present in Bosnia and Herzegovina). Besides Burger King, she ate at
